East Asian Women’s Football Championship Finals 2008 Summary

The East Asian Women’s Football Championship Finals 2008 was competed by four teams all ranked in the top 25 in FIFA world rankings (DPR Korea 6th, Japan 11th, China PR 13th, Korea Rep 25th). In a wide open tournament played at a consistently high level it was Japan who claimed their first title by winning all three of their matches.

Korea Rep claimed their second title for the first time in 2 tournaments following three days of matches on February 17th, 20th and 23rd in the East Asian Football Championship Finals 2008. Below we recap the exciting matches from the tournament.

The first matches of the 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa Asian Round 3 Qualifying were held throughout Asia on the 6th with Group 3’s Korea Rep beating Turkmenistan comfortably 4-0 at home.

Fresh start for Korea Rep but no result

On January 30th the Korea Rep national team faced Chile at home in their first match since HUH Jung Moo took over as coach in December last year. However, they conceded a goal in the 54th minute and lsot 0-1. They couldn’t claim victory in their first match.
