East Asian Futsal Championship 2009 and AFC Futsal Championship 2010 East Zone Qualifiers
In November, the AFC U-19 Championships Qualifiers kicked off throughout Asia with four EAFF representatives China PR, Korea Rep., DPR Korea and Japan all clinching progression to the main tournament to be held next year.
On the 24th in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia the AFC Annual Awards were held with Japan national team MF ENDO Yasuhito winning the AFC Player of the Year award.
On the 21st, DPR Korea played Zambia in an international friendly match in the Zambian capital of Lusaka, ahead of their appearance at next June’s FIFA World Cup South Africa and lost 1-4.
On the 22nd China PR played an AFC Asian Cup qualifier in Hangzhou versus Lebanon and won 1-0.
In this week’s European-based East Asian Football Federation player round up, Japan national team FW MORIMOTO Takayuki started for his Serie A (Italian first division) club CATANIA against PALERMO and set up the equalizer.
Round 32 of the J-League was played on the 21st and 22nd.
On the 20th of Norbember, the Federation of International Football Associations (FIFA) announced the latest world rankings.
The AFC U-16 Women’s Championship 2009 Thailand was held from November 4th till 15th with Korea Rep. beating DPR Korea in the final 4-0 to claim their first ever title.
The FIFA U-17 World Cup Nigeria 2009 was held from October 24th to November 15th with EAFF represented by Japan and Korea Rep. Japan were eliminated at the group stage but Korea Rep. progressed to the final 8 for the first time in 22 years.
Korea Rep. are in the middle of a European campaign and on the14th local time they played an international friendly versus Denmark in Denmark and drew 0-0.
On the 14th the Japan national team played an international friendly match versus the hosts of next June’s FIFA World Cup South Africa in Port Elizabeth and drew 0-0.
On the 14th China PR played an AFC Asian Cup Qualifier Group D match in Baghdad versus Lebanon and won 2-0.
Chinese Taipei women’s representative MF LIN Man Ting (pictured) will join Superliga Femenina club REAL VALLADOLID. LIN passed a local physical test for the last two weeks. She will be the first ever Chinese Taipei women’s representative in history to play in Spain.
Chinese Taipei Women’s representative players DF LIN Chiung Ying (left in picture) and MF TSENG Shu O (right in picture) joined CANBERRA UNITED who play in the Australian women’s league (Westfield W-LEAGUE) this autumn and are now regular starting members of last season’s runners up.
Round 31 of the J-League was played on the 8th.
On the 8th the final of the Korea Rep. 2009 Hanna Bank FA Cup was played and SUWON SAMSUNG BLUEWINGS beat SEONGNAM ILHWA CHUNMA in a penalty shoot out to claim their second title.
This week, of the East Asian Football Federation players in Europe Korea Rep. national team FW PARK Chu Young’s (centre of picture) Ligue 1 (French 1st division) team MONACO played GRENOBLE who have Japan national team FW MATSUI Daisuke with both players starting the match. PARK was substituted in the 45th minute whilst MATSUI played the full match and it finished 0-0.
On the 7th the AFC Champions League (ACL) 2009 final was played in Tokyo (Japan) with Korea Rep. club POHANG STEELERS winning their first ever title.
On the 7th the AFC Champions League finals was done in TOKYO.
On November 3rd the final of the J-League Yamazaki Nabisco Cup was played in Tokyo’s national stadium with FC TOKYO, aiming for their first championship in 5 years, clashing with KAWASAKI FRONTALE who were gunning for their first ever win. Goals from 18 year old MF YONEMOTO Takuji and FW HIRAYAMA Sota lead to a 2-0 FC TOKYO win.
The final round of the China Football Association Super League (CSL) was played on October 31st with BEIJING GUOAN claiming their first ever title.
On November 1st, the final round of the K-League was played with JEONBUK HYUNDAI MOTORS crowned champions and the top 6 play off teams decided.
This week out of the East Asian Football Federation players in Europe it was Japan national team MF HONDA Keisuke who plays for Dutch first division (Eredivisie) club VVV that got an assist as he set up the opening goal.
