Kashima Antlers win for the first time in 7 years: All Japan Championship Emperor’s Cup

On January 1st the final of the All Japan Championship Emperor’s Cup was held at Tokyo’s National Stadium. 2007 J-League champions Kashima Antlers played San Frecce Hiroshima who finished in 16th place in the J-League and will be relegated to play in J-2 in 2008. Kashima defender UCHIDA Atsuto’s 8th minute goal put them into the lead before substitute mid-fielder DANILO’s goal on the stroke of full time wrapped the match up 2-0. It is their first title in seven tournaments and third in total.
