On the 7th the groupings for the AFC Champions League 2010 were decided with 2009 competition winners POHANG STEELERS (Korea Rep.) drawn to join 2007 competition winners ADELAIDE UNITED, CSL 4th placed finishers SHANDONG LUNENG (China PR) and Japan’s 89th Emperors Cup winners.
The annual “J-League Awards” were held on December 7th in Tokyo. The Player of the Year award went to three time consecutive champions KASHIMA ANTLERS’ team leader and former Japan national team MF OGASAWARA Mitsuo. KASHIMA head coach Oswaldo OLIVIERA was selected as Head Coach of the Year for the third consecutive year.
Out of the East Asian Football Federation member nations’ players in Europe it was Japan national team MF HONDA Keisuke, who played for Eredivisie (Dutch first division) club VVV against WILLEM II, who starred with a 1 goal, 1 assist performance.
The K-League Championship was played on the 2nd and 6th between JEONBUK HYUNDAI MOTORS and SEONGNAM ILHWA CHUNMA with JEONBUK winning with an aggregate total over the two matches of 3-1 to record their first ever championship in the club’s 15 year history.
On the 5th, the final round of the J-League was held and KASHIMA ANTLERS claimed a record third consecutive title.

Acting as the qualifiers for the AFC Futsal Championships 2010, the East Asian Futsal Championships 2009 were held fro November 24th till 29th in Beijing, China with hosts China PR beating Japan 5-4 in the final to be crowned the first ever winners. Additionally China PR, Chinese Taipei and Korea Rep. all earned qualification to the AFC Futsal Championships 2010 (previous 3rd place finishers Japan had already qualified).
This week, of the East Asian Football Federation players in Europe Japan national team FW MATSUI Daisuke (pictured) on loan to Ligue 1 (French first division) club GRENOBLE, scored his first goal of the season in the 63rd minute away to LORIENT with the score at 0-1.
Fourth place finishers in the league, SEONGNAM ILHWA CHUNMA, had a play off versus AFC Champions League 2009 winners and second place finishers POHANG STEELERS on the 29th and won to progress to the K-League Championship.
