The draw to decide the AFC Cup quarter final match ups was held on the 29th in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia with SOUTH CHINA (Hong Kong-China), the only team left representing the East Asian Football Federation and regions, scheduled to play NEFTCHI (Uzbekistan).

Korea Rep. confirm group first place finish: World Cup Asian Final Round Qualifiers

The Korea Rep. national team played at home against Saudi Arabia in the FIFA World Cup Asian Final Round Qualifier. They drew 0-0 to make their record 4 wins, 3 draws. Korea Rep. had already clinched qualification to the World Cup South Africa Finals tournament but thanks to this draw they have also confirmed their place as first place finishers in Group B with one match remaining. On the 17th they will play their last Asian Final Round Qualifier against Iran (at home).

On the 10th, Japan who on the 6th had already clinched a spot at the FIFA World Cup South Africa Finals, played at home to Qatar in another last Asian Final Round Qualifier drawing 1-1. Having secured at least a 2nd place finish in Group A, Japan will play their final qualifier away to Australia on the 17th.

On the 6th, the final of the Hong Kong-China Sheffield United FA Cup was played between NT REALTY WOFOO Tai Po and TSW Pegasus. NT REALTY WOFOO Tai Po won 4-2 to claim the championship.

On the 31st the Japan national team played their final international friendly “Kirin Cup Football 2009” match versus Belgium and won comfortably 4-0 thanks in part to DF NAGATOMO Yuto who opened the scoring.

On May 30th Round 17 Day 1 of the K-League was held with league leaders GWANGJU SANGMU PHOENIX playing 4th placed FC SEOUL. SEOUL won 2-1.
