Each of the Beijing Olympics women’s football quarterfinals was played on the 15th.

Host country China PR, who had won 2, drawn 1 and advanced to the finals tournament as 1st in Group E, played an “East Asian battle” in Qinhuangdao against Japan who had won 1, drawn 1, lost 1 and gone through as 3rd in Group G. Japan won by 2-0 and advanced into the semifinal.
It is first time ever in the history of the Japanese women’s football team to advance into the semifinals.
