FC Seoul progress to the championship final: K-League Play Offs
On November 30th a play off was held to decide the team to progress to the K-League championship final, with league 2nd place finisher FC SEOUL clashing with league 4th place finisher ULSAN HYUNDAI HORANG-I in Seoul.
FC Seoul took the lead in the 26th minute when former Korea Rep. national team FW JUNG Jo Kuk scored the opener. However in the 79th minute ULSAN equalized when Korea Rep. national team MF YEOM Ki Hun scored. It was 1-1 heading into extra time and in the 7th minute Seoul FW DEJAN Damjanovic picked up FW KIM Seung Yong’s pass and shot first time with his right foot to score the decisive goal. Seoul then scored again in the 4th minute of the second half of extra time, this time FW KIM Eun Jung headed in to extend their lead. 5 minutes later ULSAN FW LUIS CARLOS Fernanndes fired in a rocket to peg one back but in the final seconds Korea Rep. MF KIM Chi Woo passed to KIM Seung Yong who scored to put the nail in ULSAN’s coffin. Seoul ran out winners 4-2.
The match up for the championship final will be league winners, SUWON SAMSUNG BLUEWINGS versus FC Seoul. The first match is on December 3rd in Seoul with the second match to be on the 7th in Suwon.
