43 year old GAO Hongbo appointed as head coach of China PR
On the 4th, the China Football Association announced the appointment of former China PR national team FW GAO Hongbo as head coach of the national team. Born in 1966, GAO starred as a striker with BEIJING GUOAN and other clubs in his playing days as well as performing well for the national team. After finishing his playing career he coached XIAMEN LANSHI and in 2007, his first year coaching at CHANGCHUN YATAI, he led the club to their first ever China Football Association Super League (CSL) championship.
Last year in June the China Football Association fired Serbian coach Vladimir PETROVIC following China PR’s failure to make it through Asian qualifying for the FIFA World Cup South Africa Finals Tournament. In January, YIN Tiesheng was appointed as temporary head coach for the AFC Asian Cup Qualifiers.
