J-League Round 14: SHIMIZU S PULSE Draws to Stay Second
J-League hosting the 14th round on July 24th and 25th.
The KASHIMA ANTLERS retained their top spot in the J-League with a dramatic 3-2 win against JUBILO IWATA. Jubilo took a 2-0 first-half lead but Kashima fought back with three goals in the second half. Gilton opened the scoring for Kashima in the 52nd minute, Koji Nakata made a goal to even the score in the 68th minute, and Marquinhos scored the winning goal with 4 minutes remaining.
The Shimizu S-Pulse and Nagoya Grampus had an intense competition to fight for second place but ended with sharing the points in a 3-3 draw. NAGOYA GRAMPUS took a lead with Kawasaki’s score at the 34th minute in the second half time. However, Eddy Bosnar's close-range header passed from his teammate FUJIMOTO Jungo in the 79th minute ensured the points were shared. Nagoya Grampus was pegged back three times by Shimizu S-Pulse as Kashima's two closest rivals played out an entertaining 3-3 draw. Shimizu remained at second place while Nagoya stayed at third.
KAWASAKI FRONTALE stayed at forth place after they defeated KYOTO Purple SANGA with JUNINHO’s shoot with time running out. CEREZO OSAKA ranked fifth having made three goals past its opponent MONTE DIO YAMAGATA.
