MESSAGE

Message from the President of the East Asian Football Federation

Dear Friends,

Hafa Adai!
It gives me the great pleasure to welcome you all to the first round of the 2015 EAFF East Asian Cup preliminary competition. In less than a month, the competition will officially kick off on the beautiful island nation of Guam for the third time, setting a respectable record for hosting the preliminary round that spans more than seven years.

On behalf of the EAFF family, I would like to extend my deepest appreciation to Guam Football Association for organizing such competition again. The previous editions proved to be very successful and left us with lots of beautiful memories, not only on the professional organization, but also on the “Guam style” warm reception and hospitality that extended to every EAFF member.

This year’s competition will witness 4 men’s teams and 3 women’s teams competing for the tickets to the next round East Asian Cup qualification round. I wish all the participating teams of Guam, Macau, Mongolia and Northern Mariana Islands the very best in their preparations and play their best football during the competition.

Taking this opportunity I also want to thank our partner Dentsu for its long time support and commitment to EAFF competitions.

inally I wish the fans at Guam enjoy the fascinating matches and this East Asian Cup Preliminary Round 1 competition a round success.

Zhang Jian
President, EAFF

Message from the President of the Guam Football Association

Hafa Adai from Guam!

On behalf of Guam Football Association, I am proud to present the preliminary competitions of both the EAFF Men’s East Asian Cup and EAFF Women’s East Asian Cup, made possible by the collaboration of EAFF, EAFF member associations, and the Guam FA and the Local Organizing Committee.

The Guam FA, four-time event hosts, is very much eager to welcome all teams, officials, VIPs, and special guests to the beautiful island paradise of Guam. For the first time, both men’s and women’s competitions will be held at the world-class, multi-million dollar Guam FA National Training Center.

Additionally, I am particularly excited for Guam’s selection as the venue for the preliminary competition this year, especially with match dates coming at the heels of the 2014 FIFA World Cup. I expect highly exciting football during the week with inspiration drawn from the heroics and drama we’ve all seen unfold in this year’s edition of the FIFA World Cup.

I would like to thank the competing nations ? Guam, Macau, Mongolia, and the Northern Mariana Islands ? for competing in this prestigious tournament, the steppingstone for qualification into the second round to be held in Chinese Taipei later this year. The final round, which will feature the top-ranked East Asian nations and the champions of the second round, will be held in China next year.

The successful staging of the tournaments also requires the support of sponsors, as well as fans, staff, volunteers, and the media, all of whom I am extremely grateful. This unwavering support helps tremendously to realize invaluable opportunities, like this tournament, for the further development of football in East Asia.

In closing, I wish all teams good luck in the competition and encourage the spirit of fair play in all matches. For our many fans and supporters, I hope you all enjoy the high-level, international matches here in Guam.

Richard K. Lai
President, Guam Football Association
