It is with great honor to be elected as new President of EAFF. Through its four-year history under the great leadership of Mr. Shun-ichiro Okano and Dr. Chung Mong Joon, great achievements have been made in football exchanges among our member associations, especially youth football which has been largely promoted through the EAFF U-14 Festival. The successful organization of the EAFF Football Championship marks the ever-increasing influence of football in the East Asian region.
As known to all, football is a socialized product that belongs to the public, and how to make best use of this resource to obtain social benefits is our ultimate goal. The extraordinary success of the 2006 FIFA World Cup Germany signifies the huge potential of football development. It is not just one kind of sports as it appears, but more than that it is a cultural phenomenon with huge coverage, incomparable penetration and tremendous influence that reaches every corner of the society and influences every one of us.
I believe that East Asia's geographical advantages, enormous football population, good football environment and huge potential market shall guarantee EAFF to take its position in Asia and worldwide. I sincerely wish to acquire your extensive support and cooperation during my presidential term in these two years and hope that all members unite as one family to build EAFF to prosper further in the coming future.
