The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) marked Aya Miyama’s AFC Women’s Player of the Year 2015 award during a ceremony in Osaka, Japan on Friday.
The event took place in the midst of the Women's Olympic Final Qualification Round currently being played in the Japanese city.
Two other awards were also handed over to the winners at the same ceremony: AFC Youth Player of the Year 2015 – Women, which was received by Rikako Kobayashi (Japan), and AFC Fair Play Association of the Year 2015, which was won by the Japan Football Association (JFA).
AFC President Shaikh Salman bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa said: “Women’s football has enormous global growth potential. The women’s game in Asia is world class and Japan has an enviable track record, with star players such as Aya Miyama. As the 2015 AFC Annual Awards showed again, efforts by the Japan Football Association are paying off across the board, as the JFA came first in various categories. I would like to congratulate the JFA for their exemplary success and hope other Member Associations will be able to learn from it.”....
