Chinese Taipei hauled themselves into contention for an unlikely place at the Finals in the United Arab Emirates during the Qualifiers in 2017 and 2018 with victories over Bahrain and Singapore that left them one point short of a first AFC Asian Cup appearance since 1968.
But while they fell agonisingly short, Lancaster is hoping he can take the lessons learned in that run of matches – and those since – to put Chinese Taipei in a position to challenge for a top two finish in demanding group......
