Korea Republic men’s U-20 national team have failed to overcome Morocco as their FIFA U-20 World Cup campaign came to an end in the round of 16.

Lee Changwon’s side lost 2-1 against Morocco in the round of 16 match that took place at Estadio El Teniente in Rancagua, Chile on Thursday. Trailing 2-0 after 90 minutes, the Taegeuk Warriors managed pull one back through Kim Taewon’s penalty kick deep into added time, which turned out to be a consolation goal.

Earlier in the group stage, Korea Republic finished third in Group B after losing 2-1 against Ukraine, drawing 0-0 with Paraguay and then beating Panama 2-1. The four points from the group was good enough for them to qualify as one of the four third-placed teams with better results, alongside Spain in Group C, France in Group E and Nigeria in Group F. A total of 24 teams took part in the finals of the FIFA U-20 World Cup, with top two teams from six groups of four teams advancing to the knockout phase along with four third-placed teams with best results. .....
