Hong Myungbo’s side lost 5-0 at the hands of Brazil in a friendly staged at Seoul World Cup Stadium on Friday. The visitors claimed a famous win through the braces from Estevao and Rodrygo, with Vinicius Jr. putting the result beyond doubt in the closing minutes. The Taegeuk Warriors are set to take on Paraguay in the same venue on Tuesday.

The result put the Koreans on a six-game losing streak against the Brazilians since Kim Dohoon struck the winner in a 1-0 victory at home over the South American powerhouse in 1999. It remains as Korea Republic’s one and only win against Brazil, who have claimed eight victories over the Koreans.

Meanwhils, Son Heungmin made his 137th appearance for Korea Republic, leapfrogging into first place ahead of Cha Bunkun and Hong Myungbo (both on 136 caps) to become the most capped player in the history of Korean football. It took about 15 years for Son to achieve the feat since he made his international debut in a friendly with Syria in December 2010. .....
