Hong Kong: Defending champions Shanghai Port FC suffered a shock defeat on the opening weekend of the Chinese Super League, while Chengdu Rongcheng FC surged to the top after an emphatic win.

China PR: Champions beaten as Chengdu storm to the top

Defending champions Shanghai Port were stunned 2–1 at home by Henan FC in their opening match of the season.

Yihao Zhong gave Henan the lead in the first minute before Iago Maidana doubled the advantage in the 16th. Gabrielzinho pulled one back just before the break, but Henan held on for the win.
