EAFF President’s message

Dear EAFF families and football fans,

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all football fans for supporting EAFF up until now. I would also like to appreciate Guam FA, China FA and Hong Kong FA for successfully hosting the first and second preliminary rounds of the EAFF tournament last year.

I am pleased to extend a warm welcome to team Australia, for it is the first time since the founding of EAFF in 2002 to have a guest among ourselves. What is more, team Australia has qualified for the final competition through the preliminary round 2 last year and I look forward to seeing their excellent performance once again in the final competition.

Now, I would like to congratulate team Japan, team Australia and team Korea Republic for making great accomplishments on qualifying for the 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil. This EAFF final competition shall be an unprecedented stage, as the aforementioned teams, all of them top-class teams in Asia, will be competing to be the best team.

Spirit and the sense of fair play displayed by all participating teams during the tournament acquired EAFF great fame and distinction of today. And I believe that all of you have learned the lessons of ‘harmony’ and ‘unity’ through your experience in the EAFF East Asian Cup despite differences in nationality, language and culture.

Once again, I would like to express my sincere gratitude to our host FA, Korea Football Association, players, officials, referees, EAFF member associations, EAFF sponsors, and the media for working day and night for the success of the this tournament.

Dear all Asian football fans, I hope all of you enjoy our 2013 EAFF East Asian Cup Final Competition in Korea Republic.

Mong Gyu CHUNG
President EAFF
