Men’s national team have reached the finals of the 2026 FIFA World Cup for the 11th time in a row, after defeating Iraq in the third round of the Asian Qualifiers.

Hong Myungbo’s charges beat Iraq 2-0 in their penultimate Group B match staged at Basra International Stadium on Thursday, with Kim Jingyu and Oh Hyeongyu on target in the second half.

The result put the Taegeuk Warriors three points clear at the top of Group B, securing second place regardless of the outcome of their final group game against Kuwait in Seoul on Tuesday. With only one round of games remaining for the participating teams, Korea Republic lead the section with 19 points from five wins and four draws; Jordan in second place with 16 points; Iraq with 12 points; Oman with ten points; Palestine with nine points; and Kuwait on the bottom with five points. .....
