The women’s national football team wrapped up the FIFA Series 2026 in Brazil with a third-place finish.

The FIFA Series is a friendly tournament project organized and supported directly by FIFA to help national teams from different continents, which do not often have chances to face each other, play international matches more easily. After a trial run in 2024, it officially launched this year, with the women’s competition held in four countries: Brazil, Côte d’Ivoire, Thailand, and Kenya. Korea was invited to take part in the tournament held in Brazil, one of next year’s World Cup host nations.

Since Shin Sangwoo took charge, the women’s national team has consistently played friendlies against top sides such as Japan, Spain, the Netherlands, and Australia. At this FIFA Series as well, the team focused on building international match experience by taking on strong opponents. In particular, compared with the Asian Cup, several key players were left out due to fitness management and club schedules, and the squad was notably built around younger players. .....
